PRODUCT ADVISORY BOARDS

You're missing a team you don't know you need.

We recruit five to eight executives your BD team can't reach, run every meeting, and measure the board on introductions, partnerships, and pipeline.

Built at Shoutlet. Repeated at two more companies. Now running for MV2.

THE FIRST HALO PAB

A VP from Twitter. An SVP from Google. The CRO of Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

What came back was not advice. Early API access. Enterprise introductions. Media quotes that landed Forbes and USA Today. A roadmap pressure tested by people who had already solved the problems ahead of us.

Shoutlet, acquired by Khoros

WHAT A PAB IS (AND ISN'T)

Not a board of directors. Not a customer advisory board.

Three groups get confused for one another. Only one of them moves pipeline.

Board of Directors

Governance. Fiduciary duty. Hires and fires the CEO. Meets to approve, not to open doors.

Customer Advisory Board

Feedback from people who already bought. Useful for retention. Rarely brings you a new market, partner, or acquirer.

Product Advisory Board

Executives from the companies you need to reach: buyers, channels, acquirers, operators. Recruited for access. Measured on outcomes.

Most advisory boards are five logos on a slide. We build yours as a growth engine.

THE SIX SEATS

Every Halo PAB is built from six seats.

Not every company needs all six. The first job in any engagement is deciding which five matter for yours.

01

The Buyer

A senior executive at the kind of company that buys your product. Keeps the roadmap honest.

02

The Channel

An executive at a platform or partner you need to integrate with or sell through. Opens doors BD cannot.

03

The Domain Expert

Knows the regulation, workflow, or market mechanics better than anyone inside your building.

04

The Scaler

A founder or operator who has taken a similar software company from where you are to where you want to go.

05

The Technologist

A product or engineering leader who has built at the next order of magnitude. Sees the platform decisions coming.

06

The Connector

The well networked executive who knows who you should be talking to and makes the introduction.

HOW IT WORKS

Discover. Recruit. Launch.

Ninety days from kickoff to your first board meeting. Then we run it for you.

01

Discover

Weeks 1 to 3

We map your market, your partnership gaps, and your next twelve months. We name the five seats you need and the kind of person who fills each one.

02

Recruit

Weeks 4 to 10

We identify, approach, and vet candidates. Agreements, compensation, and rules of engagement handled. You meet finalists, not long lists.

03

Launch

Weeks 11 to 13

Charter set. First board meeting designed and facilitated by Halo. Every advisor leaves with a commitment and a reason to come back.

04

Run

Quarterly, optional

We design and run every meeting, track the follow up, and report outcomes as introductions made, partnerships sourced, and pipeline moved.

WHAT YOU GET

A board that moves pipeline, not one that nods along.

We learned this the hard way. Run as a channel instead of a checkbox, an advisory board changes a company's trajectory.

FOR

Series A through C software CEOs who want outside firepower that drives growth, not just product feedback.

A hand recruited board of five to eight executives matched to your strategy
Charter, agreements, and advisor compensation handled for you
Every meeting designed and run by Halo, every quarter
Outcomes tracked as introductions, partnerships, and pipeline
A board story that strengthens your next investor conversation
Named advisors your sales team can point to every week

IS THIS YOU

Signs you need a PAB, and what changes twelve months later.

TODAY

Signs you need a PAB

  • Partnership conversations stall before they start.
  • Your roadmap is set by the loudest customer.
  • Your board keeps asking about market validation.
  • You are the only person in the company with senior relationships in your industry.
  • Acquirers and platforms know your category but not your name.

TWELVE MONTHS LATER

What changes

  • Five named advisors on your website and in your deck.
  • Two partnership doors open that were closed before.
  • A roadmap backed by operators, not opinions.
  • Early access to platforms your competitors are still emailing.
  • A credibility story your sales team uses every week.

THE MATH

What it costs to build this yourself.

DOING IT YOURSELF

Six months. Most never finish.

  • Six months of CEO time finding and courting executives who do not return cold emails
  • Legal fees for advisor agreements and equity paperwork
  • Meetings nobody has time to design, so they turn into status updates
  • Advisors who drift after the second quarter because nothing came of the first

WITH HALO

$15K to $25K to build. $3K to $5K a month to run.

  • First board meeting inside ninety days
  • Recruiting, agreements, and compensation handled
  • Every meeting designed and facilitated by people who have run these before
  • Outcomes reported every quarter

One new customer relationship usually covers the whole thing.

NEXT PAB PREVIEW  ·  VIRTUAL  ·  60 MINUTES

Watch a real Product Advisory Board session before you build one.

Jason runs a live session on a real product question from a volunteer CEO, joined by a former Shoutlet advisor. Open to CEOs and to executives thinking about taking a seat.

WHO THIS IS NOT FOR

We turn down more of these than we take.

  • Seed stage companies still finding product market fit
  • Anyone looking for a board of directors
  • Anyone looking for a customer advisory board
  • CEOs who want validation instead of input

QUESTIONS CEOS ASK

How long does it take?

Ninety days from kickoff to first meeting. Discover, Recruit, Launch.

Who does the recruiting?

We do. You meet finalists and make the call.

How are advisors compensated?

Typically a small equity grant or a modest annual stipend. We set the terms and handle the paperwork.

What if a seat does not work out?

We replace it. The board is measured on outcomes, so we do not keep seats that do not produce.

How often does the board meet?

Quarterly, with follow up between meetings. Every meeting has an agenda and every commitment gets tracked.

What do advisors get out of it?

A front row seat to a company they believe in, a peer group of operators, and upside if they want it.

PAB READINESS SCORE

Your results include the seats your company needs, a readiness read, and the Halo PAB Guide.
